Good News!

It looks like we are finally all set on the job front. Praise God! Colin is working a janitorial position a private school in Los Gatos. It's a great job with good benefits (health-wise and vacation-wise), and so far it's going great.

And today I accepted a job that I am very excited about. It is at UC Santa Cruz, working with Psychologist Catherine Cooper and her Bridging Multiple Worlds Alliance. I will be her part-time administrative assistant. The Alliance networks with community organizations to help low-income and ethnic minority students make the transition to college without sacrificing their cultural identity. It's a big issue that I've studied quite a bit and am passionate about. So it is exciting to get to work with people I respect, addressing issues that are close to my heart, and because it's part time I don't have to leave my girls all day long to do it. I feel very blessed to have this opportunity just fall into my lap like this.

It's amazing to go from just barely scraping by, unable to buy groceries or gas in order to make rent, to making almost $XXXXX a year. I know that to some of you that's still not much for a family of four, and to others of you it's adequate, but to me it is amazing. It makes our schedule a little bit crazy, but I still see it as a total answer to prayer.

Also, Sarah has been praying that she would be able to take gymnastics and swimming again, and this allows us to be able to continue those activities for her (as well as tumbling for Rebecca). So Sarah is seeing her prayers answered too!

The trade-off, of course, is that I am gone most of the morning and Colin is gone all evening during the week. So family time (and couple time) will be at a premium. I know we can make it work though and I think it will be fine once we get into a routine. And I am certainly content to split the stay-at-home parent duties with Colin! I think it will be really good for the girls to have him around in the mornings.
